n0wfj - Bob - Ordered a 4 port headphone splitter (like the one Jake has).

ke0ahu - Alan - Met Don Rice (The Minnetonka repeater owner) and his tropical bird today.
Kd0mgh - Ron - Ron was listening to another net and found more folks using a pizza pan as a base for mobile antennas used as a fixed base station.

kd0b - recheck - Dale: In house transmitting mag mount on pizza pan? Ron: Yes, and close to window. …maybe coax in tree with antenna? Ron: maybe in rafters in garage as option.

ke0ahu - recheck - to Dale.. conversation

kd0mgh - Ron - Now out in car and there appears to be no static.

Check-Ins 8-14-2016

ke0ahu - Alan - Alan is looking forward to the meeting this Thursday.
kd0b - Dale - EPRC has arranged a special guest speaker (Craig Johnson) a published author in the ARRL monthly magazine, QST, and will talk about his 40 meter receiver project…..powerpoint and all.
nowfj - Bob - Enjoyed a great time in the Wisconsin Dells with his family this weekend.
ke0ecf - Ron -  Will be missing the presentation for a trip to the Civil Air Patrol Alexandria Squadron to discuss radio communication goodness with them. Also, There is a new publication from the “US Fire Administration” called “The Voice radio communications guide to the fire service and this is geared toward people that are newer to the hobby. You can download for free and is almost 100 pages long.

Here is that publication:

ke0br - David - If interested in watching last weeks “Ham Nation” show, they are building the project that we are going through on this up coming Thursday night. You can find Ham Nation on twit.tv

Here is that video:

ke0ahu was talking on a repeater and someone called in asking for a check on radio they had just bought. Looking for advice we told him that we would have told the person that they were talking illegally, that they need a license to transmit and offer contact info. This would be what almost all of us would do. That said… we would not encourage the person to continue transmitting.

k9wn - Jake - Spend a bit of time staining deck this weekend and narrowing down some radio frequency interference in the neighborhood.

kd0mgh - Ron - In following a family members school project they are visiting cities starting with each letter of the alphabet. This weekend included visits to Jordan and Pine City. The Vikings won their pre-season!!!! Also watched the episode of 50 years on Star Trek on the History Channel.
wa0vll - Roger - All is well from Cross Lake and the saga continues with working on the pontoon boat. A Wayzata friend came up the other night and they played around with some SDR hardware and software.

ke0ahu - Alan - is looking to go from a 857 to 991 upgrade and needs the RT Systems software. He would also be looking to upgrade his ft 900r 2 meter rig.

Net Control - Jonathan Hamilton - K0FEY

If there are any specific topics you would like to discuss on an upcoming net please feel free to pass those along and I will do my best to incorporate them in.

Check-Ins on the weekly Eden Prairie Radio Club Net

Central Time Zone -Sundays 9:00pm

Coordinated Universal Time - Mondays 0300 UTC

Check-Ins 8-7-2016

k9wn - Jake - This weekend Jake stained deck and would have really loved some help this weekend with that.
nowfj - Bob - Spend a few days at the harvest festival (freshers). Also, Bob has some painting as well if anyone wants to help, wink, wink…

kd0mgh - Ron - Enjoyed todays weather and went to Hudson Wi and saw cars and plenty of motorcycles.
ke0ecf - Ron - Out a Hutchinson for a search and rescue exercise. For this event Ron lead the communications side of things as the Communications leader for Civil Air Patrol. Weather perfect for flying as well and all that attended had fun.
ke0br - David - Went to the Minnetonka Radio Club on Saturday. QST published one of their members articles last month. Loving the weather as well.

kd0mgh - recheck - After Tai Quan-do Ron went to a car and robotics show at the Eden Prairie High School. It was a very fun time and the old classic cars made Ron feel nostalgic remembering them as the “new” models. Particularly he liked the 3 wheeled Reliant vehicle. That same owner had a Henry-J. Others on display were a 72 “Cuda as well as some Tesla models.

kd0b - Dale - To start out the net Dale was giving off some weak signal in the home rig. This was fixed as soon as he went to the truck and now his transmission comes in very well. Dale would also like to talk to the QST guy from Minnetonka and perhaps have him talk at one of our meetings.
ke0ahu - Alan - Has extra battery for the EPRC monthly impromptu auction. ($40 bid start)

wa0vll - Roger - Thankfully, no storm damage or any issues from the recent weather occurred to Rogers house. (cannot say the same for the neighbors) Roger now has the 1950’s 14 foot Alumicraft engine running and started working on the pontoon boat and it is coming along. In response to Ron…. Roger used to own an MGA and seemed very familiar with that model.
